Chamblee adds Sunday Alcohol sales to the November ballot

Chamblee, GA --  Last night the Chamblee City Council unanimously approved a resolution to add Sunday alcohol sales to this Novembers ballot.

The resolution, introduced and read by Councilman Dan Zanger, passed 5-0. 

The resolution was 1st introduced to the public last Thursday at the Chamblee City Council's monthly work session and discussed again Tuesday night.

In November, the people of Chamblee will be able to vote for themselves and decide whther or not they want to be able to buy and sell liquor on Sundays.

CHAMBLEE, Ga. -- Sunday alcohol sales will appear on this November's ballot in Chamblee.

On Tuesday, Apr. 19, the Chamblee City Council voted 5-0 to include the resolution on the ballot.

The issue, which was introduced and read by Councilman Dan Zanger, was met with virtually no opposition.

Chamblee, GA --  The Georgia Legislature is passing a Sunday Sales Bill to allow individual cities in Georgia to be able to sell liquor on Sundays.

In a conversation with Chamblee Mayor Eric Clarkson, he informed 11Alive News that the Chamblee City Council has decided to put the issue of liquor sales on the agenda in tomorrow's meeting.  The Mayor believes that the council will pass the bill allowing a referendum vote for the residents to vote their opinions during the upcoming November elections.

Dekalb County, GA --  According to a recent press release sent by Dekalb CEO Ellis' office, Burrell Ellis will be hosting a Hike and Bike Greenspace Tour on Saturday as part of Dekalb County's celebration of National County Government Month.

On April 16th, Ellis will meet at Arabia Mountain High School in Lithonia to lead a group of Dekalb county staff and residents through Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Reserve, a DeKalb County park comprised of 2,000 acres of granite outcrop, wetlands, pine and oak forests, streams, and a lake, and one of Georgia’s most beautiful greenspaces.

The CEO’s Hike and Bike Greenspace Tour is free and open to the public.

Pre-registration online at www.dekalbcountyga.gov is encouraged.

DeKalb County to Host Showcase, Grand Opening

Dekalb County, GA --  DeKalb County will continue its celebration of National County Government Month with a county showcase tomorrow, April 9, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Northlake Mall, 4800 Briarcliff Road in Atlanta. The county will also host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. for the OneDeKalb Neighborhood Resource Center, located on the lower level of the mall near Macy’s.

The showcase brings county departments together in one place, offering citizens an opportunity to learn about resources available through county government.
