(WXIA) -- The Georgia Department of Transportation has a number of Atlanta-area construction projects on its schedule this weekend.

Drivers are asked to avoid traveling on certain stretches of Interstate 285, as lane closures are expected to result in long delays.

As always, all weekend work is weather permitting.

Scheduled projects include:

Cobb County
2 northbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Paces Ferry Road and Cobb Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday for sign structure work.

DeKalb County
2 westbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Northlake Parkway and Chamblee Tucker Road from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
2 lanes in each direction of I-285 will be closed between Cascade Road and the I-20 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Fulton County
2 southbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for concrete rehabilitation.

Fulton County
3 westbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between the Downtown Connector interchange and Lee Street from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge joint repairs.

Fulton County
2 eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Fulton Industrial Boulevard and the I-285 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge joint repairs.

Fulton County
1 lane in each direction of Ga. 400 will be closed between Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Lenox Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday for cable installation.

Fulton County
1 southbound lane of Ga. 400 will be closed between Windsor Parkway and Loridans Drive from 7 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Fulton/Cobb counties
* 3 westbound lanes of I-285 will be closed between New Northside Drive and the I-75 interchange from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday for sign structure work.

Fulton/DeKalb counties
1 eastbound lane of I-285 will be closed between New Northside Drive and Lavista Road from 7:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for sign structure work.

Newton County
2 eastbound lanes of I-20 will be closed between Almon Road and Highway 278 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for heat straightening on beams.
